  4. The EXTernal protocol drivers distributed with RBBS consist of:
  5.  
  6. PCKERMIT.EXE - for KERMIT protocol
  7.  
  8. QMXFER.COM - for Ymodem, YmodemG, Imodem, and Xmodem
  9.  
  10. WXMODEM.COM - for windowed xmodem
  11.  
  12. These three files have been unchanged since RBBS-PC 16.1A.
  13.  
  14. RBBS-PC Version CPC17-2B is distributed via three mandatory and four
  15. optional standard "ZIP" files.   Two sets of merges are available but
  16. not automatically distributed.

  47. Simply uncompress the first three files and follow the instruction in the
  48. RBBS-PC documentation entitled, "Installing RBBS-PC for the First Time."

  50. For those who have never operated an electronic bulletin board before,
  51. we suggest getting Bantam Books' "The Complete Electronic Bulletin Board
  52. Starter Kit" by Charles Bowen and David Peyton (ISBN 0-553-34552-4).
  53. RBBS-PC's documentation is only a "reference" and is not nearly as good
  54. a learning guide for new SYSOP's.  However, the book only covers RBBS-PC
  55. version 15.1C, and therefore does not cover new features.  Version 17.2B
  56. is downward compatible with the system files of 15.1C.
